Assistive Technology Comments
The most interesting thing that I found about my assistive technology for autistic people research was that there are many apps for Apple devices, like iPads, iPods, iPhones, and iTouches. This is interesting because even though these people have disabilities, they can still be up to date with the new technology that other normal people are too. The most surprising thing to me was that there is so many programs, devices, electronics, etc. out there for people with autism. For these people, there are so many to choose from, that there has to be at least one program that they really like and helps them a lot. The technology that is most beneficial to users would probably be the Boardmaker because it helps the kids with autism understand and create personal messages and photographs in ways that is easy for them, and works for them. Also, it is uncluttered so it makes it easier for the kids to keep track of all their thoughts in an organized way.
If I had to use the technology I researched, I would feel grateful. There are so many devices out there to help people with autism that I would feel very grateful. Also, there is even more research being done to come up with more programs to help people.
I think people using the assistive technology I researched would be stared at. I don’t know why because these people are just trying to do everything that we do, but they have to do it in a little bit different way we do.

People who overcame adversity
1. Helen Keller- Helen Keller was blind and deaf since the age of 1 and half. She overcame her disabilities with the help of her mentor, Anne Sullivan. She became one of the most well-known authors in the world, even though she could not see or hear. She used brail to communicate with others and other techniques that Anne Sullivan taught her. http://www.nndb.com/people/074/000046933/
2. Oprah Winfrey- Oprah Winfrey had a very difficult childhood. She was abused her whole childhood from the time she was 9 years old to the time she was 14 years old. When she was 14, she was sent to Tennessee to live with a barber, who she calls her father today. In 1995, she admitted to having done some drugs in the past. She overcame all these obstacles by having the people around her help her through it. And now, she is one of the most popular talk show hosts in the world. http://www.transforming-child-behavior.com/oprahwinfrey.html
3. Albert Einstein- Albert Einstein struggled academically as a child. He quit school at the age of 15 and started studying math, science, and other school books on his own. He got expelled many times from school, and failed many college exams. He got over these obstacles by studying books and other things, and just being determined even though the schools were not helping him learn to his full potential at that time, he took it upon himself to learn. Albert Einstein went on to discover many great things in the science world, and is one of the smartest scientists ever to live. http://cse.edc.org/products/historyphysics/bios.asp#einstein

Extra Credit
I am watching a YouTube tutorial on how to curl your hair with a straightener. First, you have to put curling lotion on your hair. The brand that works the best is "Hot Sauce". Then you smooth it all over your hair. After that, you are supposed to take about 1/2 inch thick pieces of hair at a time and start curling them. You start down about 3 inches from the top of the piece of hair. Then you take the piece of hair and wrap it around the straightener. After you have the hair wrapped, you pull it through until it's straight. Then pull the straightener out and you are left with a perfect curl.
I tried this method on my own hair and it worked very well! My whole hair was curled using a straightener in about a half hour. It was very easy and very efficient. I am glad that I watched this YouTube tutorial because maybe I can even use this method of curling hair on my friends now too!
This is the link of the YouTube tutorial I watched.
